For years, many individuals have been striving to preserve the Aaniiih and Nakoda languages. in 2019 Nakoda Aaniiih Economic Development Corporation (NAEDC) was awarded the Ester Martinez grant through the administration for Native Americans.  

This kickstarted efforts to create a language facility. Recognizing the importance and need to introduce language as early as possible, a language nest became the goal.

Since 2020 Life's Language Lodge has been serving the Fort Belknap Indian Community with much needed childcare services, while maintaining and prioritizing the languages, customs and beliefs of the Aaniiih and Nakoda people.

Within the first three years, LLL has exceeded all goals that were set in 2020. We are thankful to be able to contribute the efforts made by those before us, as well as continue the grueling task of language preservation.
